EINSTEIN Final Conference

In the early part of the summer the EINSTEIN project partners convened in Brussels to host the final conference and celebrate the success of this Intelligent Energy Europe project. During the conference delegates heard from project partners on a range of issues relating to energy efficiency and energy audits.

The EINSTEIN methodology and the expert system software tool are available as a free and open source software project. Further development of EINSTEIN and complementary modules is intended to be carried out as community development, collecting contributions and feed-back from companies, research institutes and individuals working in the field of thermal energy auditing

Alongside the presentations from partners, the conference was delighted to host presentations from Dr Christophe Coudun, European Commission Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (EACI) who talked about boosting clean and sustainable energy solutions and Jorge Nunez Ferrer from the Centre for European Policy Studies introduced the EU’s Smart Cities Stakeholder Platform and talked about connecting technologies, cities and funding.

EINSTEIN User and Developer Day

Following the conference the EINSTEIN project hosted a User and Developer Day. The purpose of the day The User and Developer Day allowed participants the opportunity to facilitate the exchange of experience of the community of EINSTEIN users and developers. The event gave developers the chance to present and discuss features of EINSTEIN, users exchanged experiences about EINSTEIN methodology and practice and other interested parties has the opportunity to connect with the EINSTEIN community.

28th September 2012 CEN-CENELEC Workshop

One of the modules within EINSTEIN II is dedicated to the contribution to standardization. In this framework, one of the intended outputs is a CEN-CENELEC Workshop Agreement describing 'Good Practice for an Integrated Approach on Thermal Energy Audits'.

This workshop will lay out an integrated approach on energy audits, based on an expert system software tool, guiding the user through the whole procedure from auditing (preparation of visit and data acquisition), to data processing, to the elaboration, design and quantitative (energetic and economic) evaluation of alternative solutions, including recommendations for the components of the approach.

The kick-off meeting of the workshop will take place in the CEN-CENELEC Meeting Centre (CCMC), Brussels, on 28 September 2012, at the following address:

CEN-CENELEC Meeting Centre
Avenue Marnix 17
B-1000 Brussels

Berlin Energy Days 2012

EINSTEIN Presents at the “Berliner Energietage“ (Berlin Energy Days)

The “Berliner Energietage” is an annual event with about 7,000 participants from all over Germany. It combines conferences, workshops, meetings and the “Fachmesse Energie ImpulsE” (trade fair). As the leading convention on energy efficiency in Germany the Berliner Energietage offers a good insight into current developments in political, economic and technical perspective. The three days with 47 presentations and diverse topics held by over 250 speakers are addressed to decision makers in politics, administrations and associations as well as to experts from energy and real estate industries, public facilities or architects, consultants and engineers. The Berliner Energietage focus on the topics of energy efficiency and climate protection and follow the concept of offering a platform even to different opinions, so that an open discussion can be held about the best solutions.

This year, ZAB Energie presented the EINSTEIN project. Visitors were informed about the project EINSTEIN II and the software with an online presentation
